WASHINGTON, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — VotingWorks, a nonpartisan nonprofit maker of voting equipment, announced today that its voting system has been certified to VVSG 2.0, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s newest federal voting system standard. VotingWorks is the first open-source voting system to receive federal certification.

With the previous version of the federal standard dating to 2005, VVSG 2.0 defines modern requirements for voting system security, accuracy, and accessibility. VotingWorks’ certification confirms its system meets these requirements following formal testing by SLI, an accredited federal testing laboratory and review by the EAC.

VotingWorks equipment is currently used by voters across Mississippi and New Hampshire.
