An unplanned $265,000 compliance mandate turns into $215,968 in net savings once ONSITE bundles it with condenser cleaning and power optimization.
CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, August 25, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — A CNC machining manufacturer facing an unplanned $265,000 OSHA-mandated filter upgrade has turned that compliance cost into a positive-cash-flow energy project, ONSITE Utility Services announced, after the company brought ONSITE in to deliver the filters as-a-service and find a way to fund the mandate through savings.
The turnkey price tag for upgrading filters on 24 large rooftop units (RTUs) to meet OSHA employee health and safety requirements was never in the manufacturer’s budget. ONSITE and its contractor performed a full energy study of the RTUs, reviewed 12 months of utility bills, and conducted an ASHRAE Level II audit of the units and the facility’s electrical system.
While the filter project alone ran at a net cost, ONSITE identified additional energy savings by cleaning the units’ condensers with BioCLEAN, an engineered bacteria that breaks down the organic matter, mold, and oil traditional cleaning couldn’t remove, restoring the coils’ ability to reject heat and allowing less outside air to be pulled into the building year-round. Testing with a Dent meter also uncovered low power factor and harmonics wasting electricity, which a power optimization system was designed to correct. Together, these findings moved the overall project into positive cash flow.
ONSITE delivered the entire scope, industrial filters, condenser cleaning, and power optimization, through its Energy-as-a-Service platform at zero capital and zero debt to the client, with maintenance on the RTUs, including filter changes and cleaning, included over a five-year service term.
Key Results:
• $375,077 in capital expense avoided
• $1,090,801 in projected 10-year electric savings
• $72,393 in projected 10-year maintenance savings
• $215,968 in net savings cash flow to the client
• Zero regulatory audits or OSHA fines
“A compliance mandate doesn’t have to be a sunk cost,” said Fritz Kreiss, CEO of ONSITE Utility Services. “Audit the whole system, and the savings often pay for the requirement.”
