Peptides are short chains of amino acids, typically between 2 and 50 units long. Some have been used in medicine for many years and are well studied. Others are newer wellness options with far less human research behind them. The guide explains why knowing which group a peptide belongs to is the most important part of any decision.
It also walks readers through common side effects, the warning signs that call for emergency care, why quality and sourcing matter and what questions to bring to an appointment. The guide is educational and does not replace advice from a licensed provider.
“People come in having read a lot online, and much of it blurs the line between well-studied options and early-stage ones,” says Andrea Dean, CRNP, nurse practitioner at Renew Integrative Health. “Our job is to explain where each option stands, what is known and what is not, and to make sure nobody starts anything without understanding the risks.”
At Renew, the process starts before the first visit. Patients complete a medical history, diet log and symptom list through the patient portal and share the previous two years of medical testing. The visit includes a physical examination and an honest discussion of options. Follow-up visits allow the plan to be adjusted or stopped if it is not helping.
Renew offers in-person visits at its Newark clinic and virtual consultations. Patients can book a consultation or explore the clinic’s other integrative services.
