SALT Plumbing, Air & Electric Launches Water Heater Giveaway for Austin Seniors

SALT Cares will cover a $4,800 water heater and installation for one Austin-area senior. Nominations close August 20, 2026.

AUSTIN, TX, UNITED STATES, August 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — SALT Plumbing, Air & Electric has opened nominations for SALT Cares, a program that will provide one Austin-area senior with a new water heater and professional installation at no cost. The package is valued at $4,800. Nominations close August 20, 2026, and the recipient will be named on August 21, National Senior Citizens Day.

The SALT Cares program is open to residents age 60 and older across the greater Austin area. Nominations are accepted at callsalt.com/saltcares.

Water heater replacement ranks among the more disruptive unplanned expenses a household can face. The equipment usually fails without warning, replacement and installation can run into thousands of dollars, and the loss of hot water interrupts routines tied directly to health and hygiene. For older adults on fixed retirement income, that combination can force a choice between a necessary repair and other essential costs.

SALT Cares was structured to remove that decision for one household. Rather than a discount, a financing arrangement or a promotional rate, the program covers the full cost of the unit and the labor to install it.

National Senior Citizens Day was established by presidential proclamation in 1988 and is observed each year on August 21. The observance recognizes the contributions of older Americans and draws attention to the services and support available to them.

Community members submit nominations through an online form, naming a senior they believe would benefit and describing the circumstances. Eligible nominees include veterans, grandparents, longtime neighbors and others who have spent years contributing to the people around them. Self-nominations are accepted. There is no cost to submit a nomination and no cost to the recipient.

A committee of SALT Plumbing, Air & Electric team members will review the submissions and select a recipient based on demonstrated need, community impact and the circumstances described in the nomination. The selected individual will be contacted directly before any public announcement, and will be identified publicly only with that person’s permission.

SALT Cares is structured as a standing program rather than a one-time campaign, and the company intends to continue it in future years.

Following the installation, SALT Plumbing, Air & Electric plans to publish an account of the project with the recipient’s consent.
