Oklahoma City Community College earns MovieMaker magazine’s Best Film Schools honor for the fifth consecutive year.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, UNITED STATES, August 28, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — For the fifth consecutive year, Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) has been named one of the 30 Best Film Schools in the U.S. and Canada by “MovieMaker” magazine.

“MovieMaker,” an online publication with a quarterly print issue based in Hollywood, California, released its 2026 list on Aug. 24.

“We are grateful to MovieMaker magazine for continuing to honor OCCC’s film program as one of the U.S. and Canada’s best,” said OCCC President Dr. Mautra Staley Jones. “This ongoing accolade is a testament to the vision of our film program’s founder and department namesake, Gray Frederickson; the dedication of our professors, Greg Mellott and Sean Lynch; and OCCC’s commitment to supporting the film industry in Oklahoma.”

OCCC’s Gray Frederickson Department of Digital Cinema offers world-class training by industry-expert instructors with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. OCCC students have worked on major motion pictures and television shows, including “Twisters,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Tulsa King,” “Reservation Dogs,” “The Lowdown,” and more than 30 other low and medium-budget films.

Currently, OCCC students are working on the set of the movie “Copperhead,” starring Miles Teller and directed by Tulsa native John Swab, scheduled to film in Oklahoma from Aug. 17 to Oct. 9.

“Throughout our state, across the nation and even internationally, OCCC students are impacting the film industry — contributing to blockbuster movies, award-winning TV shows and more,” said Dr. Liz Largent, Senior VP for Academic Affairs at OCCC. “We are honored to be recognized as one of MovieMaker’s best film schools for five straight years.”
